Occupancy Sensor P1/P3: turn off the air conditioner when a room is empty

Occupancy Sensor is an advanced occupancy control system that can turn off an air conditioner when it senses that a room is empty and without occupants. When guests leave a room, the air conditioner will turn off after a predetermined period of time has passed, minimizing the waste of electricity (and money) that all hoteliers have unfortunately become used to.

Occupancy Sensor’s technology, based on an infrared motion and proximity sensor (PIR), can detect the movement of a body in the room it is monitoring.

Got a question?

Questions and Answers

1. What is the Occupancy Sensor?

It is an advanced, technologically sophisticated but simple to use occupancy sensor that can turn off an air conditioner when it senses that a room is empty and without occupants. This avoids wasting electricity (and money) to keep the air conditioner on even when no one is in the room, which obviously saves energy and money in utility bills.

2. How can you be sure that the room is empty?

Occupancy Sensor, “`P1” and “P2” models are equipped with an infrared motion and proximity sensor (PIR), which can sense the movement of a body of a certain size (to avoid it being alerted by the movement of small animals, for example). This ensures that the room is empty if the sensor does not detect anything.

3. Is installation simple?

Certainly!
However, we recommend that you use a certified electrician, as intervention on the air conditioner’s power supply is needed.

4. How can I prevent my guests from changing the settings?

Programming is protected by an access code that only the owner knows.

5. Can it be programmed?

Absolutely. The Occupancy Sensor can be programmed to work in 3 modes.
– 24/7: the sensor remains active at all times, ready to turn the air conditioner off when it doesn’t sense any activity in the room
– Comfort mode: it will turn the air conditioner off 2 hours after it senses darkness in the room (in other words, at night)
– Night mode: occupancy detection will be disabled during the night and the air conditioner can operate normally when the room is dark

You can also intervene on the ‘delay’ time, to decide how long the Occupancy Sensor should wait after the empty room is detected before turning the air conditioner off.
You can choose from 15, 30 and 60 minutes.

6. Can I use the Occupancy Sensor together with your remote controls?

Absolutely! By doing so you will save even more energy and maximize the benefits.
